ANDREW W.K. – MY DESTINY

Yesterday, Andrew W.K. posted a song he wrote when he was 17 on the Guardian and claimed the track earned him “a juvenile restraining order.” He says he wrote the song for a girl he was “obsessed with” at the time and upon hearing the song, the girl called the police.

Having listened to the song myself and being familiar with Andrew and his work, I doubt it was recorded when he was 17. But whether this is real or not doesn’t really matter. What is reality, anyway, except what we perceive it to be? Yeah, I went there. Whatever. This song is awesome. It’s dark and intense and has moments that are reminiscent of early Peter Murphy/Bauhaus. It’s creepy as all hell. I could use an entire album of tracks like this.

Catch Up and Updates!

It’s update time! The past week has been a little bit of madness and writing at 4/5am didn’t seem like a good idea. I’m afraid my posts would have been as difficult for me to write as they would have been for you to read them, so you can thank me now for sleeping instead!

Lots to catch up on!

First, the Punk Rock Pillow Fight VII pictures from the previous post will be back up shortly. Had a bit of an issue with how they looked on Flickr and am going to re-upload them when I get a chance.

Just a taste of what’s to come. I shot a bunch of shows last week and will have posts and photos up very soon from SHAKER PEGS at PARKSIDE LOUNGE as well as LISSY TRULLIE‘s ep release show at MERCURY LOUNGE with FRANKPOLLIS and LINFINITY. Also posting soon will be the FRIDAY THE 13TH show I threw at LIT with the lovely BAMBI KILLERS and CLAW [which would not have happened without Michelle!].

ASTRONAUTALIS

Thanks to my good friend Liz, aka El Dangeroso, I am now aware of Astronautalis.

American Gothic meets Hip-Hop. Astronautalis is a masterful storyteller and rapper and I believe every word that comes out of his mouth. His tracks are so vivid and heavy that new elements emerge with each listen. Buy his new ablum Pomegranate. I will do a full post on Sundtrak within a couple of days so check over there to preview more tracks.

WE’VE MOVED!

It’s True. Santos Party House has officially moved locations. We are no longer located at 100 Lafayette Street. Due to our ongoing expansion, we’re now located 2 doors down (approximately 8 feet), at 96 Lafayette Street. Fortunately, we have been able to recreate the exact same club, only 8 feet further down the block, simply by shifting the walls and parts of the ceiling to accommodate the new location

Our patrons will notice a slight shift in the sidewalk, as well as a wider stairway leading down to the lower level. As a result of this move, we now have a larger amount of space on the left side corridor of the club. We were also able to shift the entire front entrance and windows of our building, leaving the upper portion intact. If you look closely, you’ll be able to see the distance between the previous location and the new one.

We’ve made a new logo for our address, to replace the no longer accurate, 100 Lafayette logo. Special thanks to Andrew Strasser.
